| Hillingdon Manor beat Strollers by 2 wickets |
Strollers had one of their longer journeys, on the longest day of the year, way out west to Hillingdon playing the Manor. |
|
| It was a lovely warm, sunny day as skipper called correctly and decided to open the batting with old man Matthews, who first ball gave our hosts catching practice..generous chap! Skipper did pretty much the same thing, so Strollers were wobbling somewhat but fortunately another Krunic was making his debut, showing plenty of class and (unlike Skip) good shot selection. Also debuting was Mr.Sharma (yes that`s how he likes to be referred to) who selected to smash every delivery! He made a handy 27. | |
| 'Another' Krunic was batting steadily but wickets kept falling until he was joined by Moody, who batted sensibly and was still there when Krunic made a debut 50. But Moody was not having his thunder stolen and decided to run Nick out by about.........15 yards! (I`m being generous). Not content with that, he ran out young man Matthews also by about..........17 yards! (again I`m being..) thus ensuring an average enhancing 'not out'. Wicket-keepers... strange bunch, eh Reidy (where are you?)? | |
There is a special number that all victims of the Jim Moody "I've been run out by more than 12 yards club" can call - any profits will go to the Jim Moody 'Horrendous Calling Rehab Centre'. All calls will be monitored for Moody look-a-likes! |
|
| Strollers made early in-roads through Lees and Virk (the tall one), but runs kept coming. Skip halted the flow somewhat, and took a few wickets thanks to superhuman catching (2 of them) by Matthews (the good one), but Hillingdon just made it with 2 wickets to spare. Then we all made our way home, all except Moody who was last seen heading to Coventry! | |
